Haryana awards Rs 26.20 crore contract for 30 urban health centres in Gurugram, targets slums and low-income families

Gurugram, Oct 8 (UNI) The Haryana government has awarded a Rs 26.20 crore contract to establish, operate, and manage 30 Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across Gurugram district, targeting slum dwellers, low-income households, and other underserved communities to improve access to primary healthcare.
The Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited (HMSCL) has issued the Rs 26,20,80,000 work order to ASR Hospitals (India) Private Limited for a two-year period beginning from the date of the agreement, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said on Thursday.
The initiative aims to address gaps in primary healthcare access in Gurugram, where economically weaker residents often rely on overstretched public hospitals for basic medical services.
"The government's objective is not to confine healthcare services to major hospitals but to ensure that every needy person has access to quality healthcare close to their home," Rao said.
She said the proposed centres would strengthen neighbourhood-level healthcare delivery, particularly in densely populated settlements, slum clusters and areas inhabited by low-income families.
The 30 centres will be established at identified locations across the district, including Hira Nagar, Narsinghpur Dhani, Hari Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Bhimgarh Kheri, Shivaji Nagar, Arjun Nagar, Chandan Nagar, Samalpur, Ghata village in Sector 56, Sector 55, DLF Phase 1, Sector 27, Ganga Vihar, Tikri Dhani, Manohar Nagar, Surya Vihar, Dharam Colony, Gwal Pahari, Prem Nagar, Sarhaul, Ram Vihar, Tigra village, Sector 54, Sarai village and Kanhai.
The government said the facilities would provide comprehensive primary healthcare services closer to residential areas, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger hospitals for routine medical attention.
Rao said the project formed part of the state government's efforts to expand public healthcare infrastructure under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
The work order covers establishment, operation and management of the centres for two years.
However, the government has not specified when the facilities will become operational or disclosed centre-wise staffing arrangements, service packages and performance benchmarks.
