Hansi CIA-1 unit seizes five illegal firearms, 24 cartridges in a week

Hansi, Oct 11 (UNI) The CIA-1 unit of Hansi Police has recovered five illegal firearms and 24 live cartridges and arrested five people in cases related to illegal weapons over the past week, police said on Sunday.
CIA Hansi refers to the specialised investigative branch of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff units of the Hansi Police in Haryana.
In the latest case, police arrested Dinesh alias Moni, a resident of Mundhal Khurd village in Bhiwani district, and recovered a .32-bore country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession.
Sub-Inspector Kapil said the CIA-1 team acted on a tip-off that the accused was carrying an illegal firearm. During a search, the police recovered the pistol from the right pocket of his jeans and two live cartridges from the left pocket. The accused failed to produce a licence for the weapon, police said.
A case has been registered under the Arms Act at Bass police station, and further investigation is underway. The accused will be produced before a court, police added.
In a separate case, the CIA-1 unit arrested Ashish, a resident of Aligarh, on a production warrant. Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.
Hansi Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said police were continuing their crackdown on illegal firearms to ensure public safety.
The recoveries made by the CIA-1 unit over the past week include five illegal firearms, two magazines and 24 live cartridges, police said.
