Haryana eyes 10 new industrial townships, Rs 9,400 crore investment from Japan, Singapore

Panchkula, Oct 12 (UNI)The Haryana government is planning to develop 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) across the state as part of a strategy to spread industrial growth beyond established hubs such as Gurugram, with Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh seeking to translate investment commitments worth about Rs 9,400 crore from Japan and Singapore into new industries and employment opportunities.
Singh said the government's priority was to ensure that industrial development reached different districts rather than remaining concentrated in a few established centres, enabling young people to find employment closer to their homes.
According to the minister, recent visits to Japan and Singapore had generated investment proposals worth approximately Rs 3,900 crore and Rs 5,500 crore, respectively. The government aims to facilitate the establishment of new industrial facilities and expand existing manufacturing infrastructure through these investments.
The minister is now preparing to visit the Republic of Korea from October 19 to 22 to explore investment opportunities and industrial partnerships with leading South Korean companies.
Singh said the proposed expansion of industrial infrastructure was intended not merely to attract capital but also to create sustainable employment and strengthen Haryana's position as a manufacturing and investment destination.
During his Singapore visit, the minister also interacted with industrialists of Haryana and Punjab origin, encouraging them to establish businesses in Haryana and contribute to employment generation.
He said the government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was actively engaging with international investors to showcase Haryana's industrial potential.
"Our priority is to create employment opportunities for the youth of Haryana. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, I am making every effort to attract investment to the state. We are undertaking foreign visits with the Chief Minister to invite leading industrialists and global companies to invest in Haryana. Our objective is to expand industries and generate maximum employment opportunities for our youth," Singh said.
The minister, a four-time legislator who has also served four terms as a minister, said attracting global companies and ensuring balanced industrial development across Haryana would remain central to his agenda.
The proposed industrial townships and overseas investment initiatives form part of the government's efforts to diversify Haryana's industrial base and extend economic opportunities to districts beyond its traditional industrial centres.
