Haryana: Govt suspends Panchkula School Principal after school assault incident

Chandigarh, Nov 1 (UNI) The Haryana Government has placed Neelu, Principal of Shaheed Major Anuj Rajput Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, Panchkula, under suspension with immediate effect.
The suspension order was issued by the Secondary Education Department on November 1, 2026, under Rule 5 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016.
The action comes in the wake of a recent assault incident involving two children at a school in Panchkula, in which a Class III student allegedly attacked a kindergarten girl using stones and a flowerpot, leaving her seriously injured. The incident had triggered widespread concern over child safety in schools.
During the suspension period, Neelu will be entitled to subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule 83 of the Haryana Civil Services (General) Rules, 2016.
The order states that her headquarters during the suspension period will be the office of the District Education Officer, Ambala. She will not be permitted to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
The order has been issued by Vijay Singh Dahiya, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Haryana Government, School Education Department.
The department has forwarded the order to the concerned authorities for information and necessary action.
The suspension order does not explicitly mention the school assault incident as the reason for the action.
