Haryana minister lays foundation for Rs 7.61 crore drinking water projects in Tosham

Bhiwani, Oct 31 (UNI) Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry on Saturday laid the foundation stones for two drinking water projects worth Rs 7.61 crore in the Tosham Assembly constituency and announced plans to renovate canals and distributaries serving the area at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.

The waterworks, proposed at Rs 3.88 crore in Azad Nagar and Rs 3.73 crore in Nangla village, are intended to strengthen rural drinking water infrastructure and improve supply to households facing water shortages.
Addressing residents during the foundation stone ceremonies, Choudhry said access to drinking water was a basic necessity and the state government was working to improve water availability
and distribution in rural areas.
She said the projects, once completed, were expected to benefit residents of the two villages and neighbouring areas by strengthening drinking water supply arrangements.
The minister also outlined plans to renovate canals and distributaries serving the villages at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore, a move aimed at improving irrigation infrastructure and water availability for agricultural purposes.
Choudhry said the government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was prioritising basic infrastructure in rural areas, including drinking water, irrigation, roads and electricity.
She maintained that the government was committed to ensuring that development projects reached villages and that inadequate infrastructure did not deprive residents of essential services. The two drinking water projects have been planned to improve supply arrangements while taking future requirements into account.
The minister said their completion would help address drinking water shortages in the area, although the government statement did not specify their expected completion dates, storage capacities or the number of households likely to benefit.
The statement also did not provide details of administrative approval, funding arrangements or
a construction schedule for the proposed Rs 10 crore canal and distributary renovation programme. Village sarpanches, local representatives and residents attended the foundation stone ceremonies.
