Haryana notifies Ayurveda PG admission rules; Rs 7.5 lakh bond, three-year ban for quitting courses midway

Chandigarh, Nov 4 (UNI) Students who discontinue postgraduate Ayurveda courses after the prescribed cut-off date will face a Rs 7.5 lakh bond liability and a three-year bar on applying for postgraduate admissions in Haryana under a new admission policy notified by the state government for the 2026-27 academic session.
The notification, issued by the Haryana AYUSH Department on November 3, establishes admission rules for MD and MS Ayurveda courses in participating government and private institutions affiliated with Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra, in Haryana and Chandigarh.
Under the policy, students leaving their courses after the stipulated cut-off, linked to three days before the last date of admission prescribed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), will be required to pay Rs 7.5 lakh to the institution concerned. They must also return any stipend or other remuneration received during their studies.
Students will have to execute a bond with two sureties at the time of admission, undertaking to complete their courses. The bond must be executed on non-judicial stamp paper and attested by a first-class magistrate.
The penalty and debarment provisions will not apply in cases of death or serious illness certified by the medical board of PGIMS, Rohtak, or an equivalent medical board.
The notification also prohibits students already enrolled in postgraduate degree or diploma courses from seeking fresh admission until they complete their existing programmes.
The government has authorised Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra, to conduct centralised online counselling for the 2026-27 academic session based on merit in the All India AYUSH Postgraduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET-2026).
Under the notified framework, 15 per cent of seats fall under the all-India merit category, while the remaining 85 per cent will be covered by university counselling.
Counselling for all-India quota seats will be conducted by the relevant central or state counselling authority, depending on the category of the institution.
All applicants must register through the university's admission portal. The detailed counselling schedule and final seat distribution will be announced separately.
The government has made verification of original documents mandatory before admission. An online seat allotment alone will not guarantee admission.
Private colleges will not be permitted to admit students independently outside the prescribed counselling process. Such admissions will be treated as invalid.
The policy reserves 10 per cent of state-quota seats in government Ayurveda colleges for regular serving Ayurvedic Medical Officers employed by the Haryana government.
The reservation will be implemented on a rotational basis across subjects, and candidates must qualify for AIAPGET-2026 and obtain a no-objection certificate from the state government.
Unfilled seats in this category will be offered to eligible candidates from the Haryana state merit list.
The policy also provides 25 per cent institutional preference in the Institute for Ayurved Studies and Research under Shri Krishna AYUSH University for candidates who completed their BAMS degrees from institutions affiliated with the university.
Similarly, 25 per cent of the relevant state-quota seats in participating Chandigarh institutions will be reserved for candidates who completed their BAMS studies in Chandigarh.
Five per cent of state-quota seats will be reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities, subject to the prescribed eligibility and certification requirements.
The existing state policy providing for half of the 20 per cent Scheduled Caste reservation in government educational institutions to be earmarked for the Deprived Scheduled Caste category will also apply.
Other reservations will be governed by the applicable Haryana or Chandigarh rules.
The non-refundable registration and counselling fee has been fixed at Rs 2,000 for unreserved-category applicants and Rs 500 for eligible reserved-category candidates from Haryana.
Scheduled Caste applicants from Chandigarh and candidates with benchmark disabilities will also pay Rs 500.
Eligible applicants from other states who do not fall under the specified concessions will pay Rs 2,000, while candidates applying under the NRI category will pay Rs 10,000.
For participation in the second, third and applicable mop-up counselling rounds, candidates opting only for state-quota seats in government or government-aided colleges will have to deposit Rs 10,000 as security.
Those including private colleges or management-quota seats among their preferences will have to deposit Rs 50,000.The security deposit will be adjusted against the first-year fee if the candidate joins the allotted institution.
It may be forfeited if the candidate fails to join, surrenders an allotted seat or loses admission because of incorrect information or failure to produce the required documents.Candidates who are not allotted any seat will be eligible for a refund of the security deposit after completion of the admission process.
At the Institute for Ayurved Studies and Research under Shri Krishna AYUSH University, the total fee is Rs 83,610 for the first year, Rs 81,410 for the second year and Rs 86,410 for the third year.
The Maru Singh Memorial Institute of Ayurveda at Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat will charge Rs 2.5 lakh annually, including tuition and other charges. At Baba Mast Nath Ayurvedic College in Rohtak, the notified first-year charges, including the one-time admission fee, range from Rs 3.78 lakh to Rs 5.70 lakh, depending on the specialisation.
