Those challenging CM Yogi have backed down: Shrikant Sharma

Mathura, Nov 4 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Mathura-Vrindavan MLA Shrikant Sharma on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the opposition, claiming that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has backed down from challenging Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as he is convinced of the BJP's return to power in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma said Akhilesh had earlier challenged the Chief Minister to contest elections from Ayodhya but now he has surrendered and retreated, realising that the BJP would once again form the government in the state.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh's development over the past decade, Sharma said the state's landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation. Recalling the earlier situation, he said darkness after sunset and pothole-ridden roads were once associated with entering Uttar Pradesh. However, the state has now moved towards development and progress.
Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Sharma accused him of being rattled and conspiring to malign the Central government. He questioned Gandhi's criticism of the government, alleging that a person facing serious corruption cases and out on bail is threatening the country's Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Sharma claimed that the party's support base in Uttar Pradesh had dwindled to just two per cent. He said its leaders are reluctant to reach out to people at the grassroots level because they have lost their political relevance among the electorate.
