Haryana STF arrests three in Bahadurgarh, seizes three pistols, 39 cartridges

Panchkula, Oct 6 (UNI) The Haryana Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested three men in Bahadurgarh and recovered three illegal pistols and 39 live cartridges in an operation targeting an alleged organised arms supply network, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
The arrests were made by the STF's Bahadurgarh unit during the intervening night of October 5 and 6 following specific information, the spokesman said.
The Haryana Police said two country-made .32-bore pistols and a .30-bore Zigana pistol were recovered from the possession of the accused, along with 39 live cartridges.
A black Tata Safari bearing a temporary registration number was also seized during the operation, police said.
According to the police spokesman, preliminary questioning indicated that the three accused were allegedly active members of an organised network involved in supplying illegal firearms to other people.
The STF is investigating the source of the seized weapons and trying to identify the people to whom the firearms were allegedly intended to be supplied, police said.
Investigators are also examining the previous criminal records of the accused and their possible links to other cases.
A case has been registered at Sadar Bahadurgarh police station in Jhajjar district and further investigation is underway.
The Haryana Police said the investigation would seek to identify other people allegedly connected with the network, including suppliers, prospective recipients and associates of the arrested accused.
“Our objective is to strike at the root of the illegal arms network, not merely intercept the end product. Every seizure is a step towards dismantling the entire chain,” the Haryana Police spokesman said.
Police said the STF has been focusing on tracing illegal firearms from their source of procurement through the supply network and identifying their intended recipients as part of its drive against organised crime and illegal weapons.
Further investigation is underway, the spokesman said.
