Haryana upgrades MLA hostel dispensary with medical equipment worth Rs 1.20 crore

Chandigarh, Oct 23 (UNI) The MLA Hostel Dispensary in Sector 3, Chandigarh, has been equipped with medical equipment worth Rs 1.20 crore to strengthen diagnostic and treatment facilities. Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr Sumita Misra, inaugurated the new equipment on Friday.
The facilities include an advanced ultrasound machine with 4D imaging, digital X-ray systems, specialised physiotherapy equipment and an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine.
The upgrade is expected to improve access to medical investigations and physiotherapy services at the dispensary, reducing the need for patients to visit other facilities for certain tests and treatments.
The ultrasound system, procured at a cost of Rs 77.15 lakh, will facilitate advanced diagnostic examinations, including pregnancy-related assessments. A digital radiography system costing Rs 11.01 lakh and an X-ray machine worth Rs 7.66 lakh have also been installed to support the diagnosis of fractures and other medical conditions.
To strengthen physiotherapy services, the dispensary has acquired equipment worth Rs 23.60 lakh for specialised pain management and rehabilitation. An ECG machine costing Rs 68,320 has also been added to facilitate the assessment of cardiac conditions.
Dr Misra said strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving access to essential medical services remained priorities for the Health Department. The new equipment will expand the range of diagnostic and treatment facilities available at the dispensary.
The modernisation drive will continue, with additional medical equipment worth Rs 48.60 lakh in the procurement pipeline. The proposed additions include machines for blood, urine and biochemical tests, along with other diagnostic equipment. A further Rs 2 lakh has been earmarked for essential physiotherapy and dental equipment.
The planned additions are expected to further expand the dispensary’s diagnostic capabilities and strengthen outpatient healthcare services.
