Haryana warns bulk waste generators of power, water disconnection for violating disposal rules

Bhiwani, Oct 18 (UNI) Institutions generating 100 kg or more of solid waste daily in Haryana's Bhiwani district face temporary disconnection of electricity and water supplies if they fail to register with the Pollution Control Board and comply with mandatory waste management requirements, Additional Deputy Commissioner Deepak Babulal Karwa has warned.
The directions also cover institutions occupying premises exceeding 20,000 square metres and those consuming 40,000 litres or more of water daily.
Karwa said such establishments must register on the Pollution Control Board's portal and ensure proper solid waste management within their premises.
The district administration has already identified 23 institutions falling under the specified criteria.
During a review meeting, Karwa directed officials of the Panchayat Department and Urban Local Bodies Department to ensure strict compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, warning that violations would invite action, including temporary disconnection of electricity and water connections.
Reviewing rural sanitation arrangements, the ADC said door-to-door garbage collection had commenced in 36 large villages, including Mahagram villages, across the district.
Residents of Barsi Gujran, Dhani Kushal, Chang, Dhani Chang, Kharak Kalan, Behal, Barwa, Khanak and Tosham have also begun paying a monthly sanitation user fee of Rs 50 to their respective panchayats.
Karwa said the collections would be spent on sanitation activities and related infrastructure in the villages concerned.
He directed Panchayat Department officials to strengthen public awareness, encourage household participation and ensure effective implementation of waste collection and management arrangements in rural areas.
