Himachal: Mega multispeciality medical camp in Anni draws 1,600 patients, 4,000 consultations

Shimla, September 28 (UNI)A mega multi-speciality free medical camp in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district
saw participation of around 4,000 specialist consultations, with nearly 1,600 patients registering for treatment and medical advice on Sunday.
The camp was organised by the Himalayan Health Environment and Social Welfare Society (HHESWS) at Himalayan Model Senior Secondary School in Anni.
The organisers said the large turnout reflected the demand for specialised healthcare services in the remote area.
Chief Medical Officer, Kullu, Dr Ranjit Thakur inaugurated the camp, while BMO Anni Dr Bhagwat Mehta provided support and guidance. SDM Anni Laxman Kanet attended the concluding programme.
Patients started arriving at the venue from around 0700 hours, leading to sustained activity at the registration counters. During the camp as many patients consulted more than one specialist, the total number of specialist consultations was estimated at between 3,900 and 4,000.
Specialist services were provided in ophthalmology, endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, rheumatology, orthopaedics, ENT, dermatology, gynaecology and obstetrics, geriatric medicine, paediatrics, general surgery, nephrology, neurosurgery, dentistry, anaesthesia and general medicine. MBBS doctors were also available for consultation.
The camp provided clinical screening and diagnostic facilities, including blood tests, blood sugar, HbA1c, ECG and dental examinations.
Patients requiring further investigation or treatment were guided regarding follow-up care, while free medicines were distributed to those in need.
CPR and first-aid training was also conducted during the camp to familiarise local residents and volunteers with basic life-saving measures and emergency response.
The organisers claimed the event as one of the larger free multi-speciality medical camps conducted by a social organisation in Himachal Pradesh in terms of the range of specialist and super-specialist services offered at a single venue.
The assessment was based on the number of registered patients and consultations recorded during the camp.
The society acknowledged the contribution of specialist and super-specialist doctors, MBBS doctors, dentists, nurses, paramedical and pharmacy teams, diagnostic and technical staff, volunteers and social workers in conducting the camp.
HHESWS also thanked the management, chairman, principal, managing director and teachers of Himalayan Model Senior Secondary School for providing the venue and logistical support.
NCC and NSS students of the school assisted with registration, patient guidance and queue management.
Teachers and student volunteers of PM SHRI Government Model Senior Secondary School, Anni, also supported the arrangements. HHESWS president Amar Chand Chauhan thanked the medical teams, schools, volunteers, administration and local residents for their participation, saying the initiative aimed to bring multiple specialist healthcare services to people at a single location.
He said the society would continue its work in health, environment and social welfare and organise similar initiatives for people requiring medical assistance.
