Himachal: Missing Kinnaur boy found safe in Narkanda

Shimla, June 20 (UNI) A 12-year-old boy, reported missing from Kinnaur, was found wandering in a suspicious condition in the main market area of Narkanda on Thursday. Alert police personnel on patrol noticed the boy alone and questioned him regarding his identity and whereabouts. However, he was initially unable to provide satisfactory answers.
According to officials, the boy appeared confused and disoriented. After patient and sensitive interrogation, he eventually revealed his name as Narender, son of Shri Resham, a resident of Rali village in Reckong Peo, district Kinnaur.
The Narkanda police promptly contacted police station Reckong Peo, where it was confirmed that a missing person report for the same child had been filed earlier. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Reckong Peo verified the identity of the boy and coordinated with the Narkanda Police for further action.
Narender’s parents were immediately informed of his recovery. Overwhelmed with relief, they confirmed that they would be reaching Narkanda today to take their son home.
The police ensured the boy’s safety and are currently keeping him in their care until his family arrives. Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances that led to the child’s presence in Narkanda, around 150 km from his native village, but they are looking into the matter.
