Historic Murud Janjira Fort welcomes visitors again after a pause

Murud(Raigad/Maharashtra), Nov 6 (UNI) The historic Murud Janjira Fort has reopened to tourists after being closed for several weeks due to adverse sea conditions that made travel unsafe.
The centuries-old island fortress, located off the Murud coast in Raigad district, about 165 km south of Mumbai, has resumed operations following a precautionary shutdown by the Port Department.
During the monsoon season — from June 1 to August 31 — the Archaeology Department suspends passenger traffic to Janjira Fort owing to rough seas. However, this year, the restriction had to be extended until the end of October because of a prolonged monsoon, delaying the reopening and causing additional losses to local tourism-dependent businesses.
