HP CM Sukhu setting record for unconstitutional policies, laws & decisions: Jairam Thakur

Hamirpur, Oct 3 (UNI) Former Himachal Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, today launched a scathing attack on the Sukhu government over its decisions repeatedly being declared unconstitutional by the courts.
During a party function at Mahare, he questioned why the government faces repeated embarrassment in court despite the Chief Minister claiming to be an expert and scholar of the law, and despite having a circle of friends and an army of advisors. "Why do the rules, laws, policies, and decisions formulated by him repeatedly turn out to be unconstitutional? What is his intent?"
While raising the slogan of 'systemic change', the Chief Minister is setting a record for unconstitutional rules, policies, laws, and decisions. He must realize that the lies told by the Chief Minister in public rallies do not work in court. He welcomed the High Court's decision to quash the move to designate medical officers as 'job trainees,' agreeing that the decision was unconstitutional, the BJP leader said.
Jairam Thakur asked what exactly the government intends to prove by repeatedly facing such embarrassment. "If the Chief Minister lacks knowledge of the law, why does he not listen to actual legal experts? This validates the point made by his own Congress colleagues: the Chief Minister listens to no one but himself. Had he listened—even to us, if not his own friends—he could have avoided such embarrassment. Whenever the Chief Minister introduced ill-conceived legislation in the Assembly driven by a spirit of vendetta and animosity, the BJP clearly warned that such laws would not withstand judicial scrutiny and advised that withdrawing them would uphold the dignity of the House. However, the dignity of the House was compromised due to the arrogance of numerical strength and the government's obstinacy."
Similarly, the BJP raised its voice against the 'Job Trainee' policy, terming it detrimental to the future of the youth, yet the government paid no heed. Even when doctors recruited through ongoing processes were re-designated as 'job trainees,' the BJP raised objections and urged the government against this move; yet, blinded by the arrogance of power, the Chief Minister remained unswayed.
It is ironic that the Sukhu government has enacted laws that appear ludicrous and contrary to the basic spirit of the Constitution; yet, in the name of 'systemic change' (*Vyavastha Parivartan*), Sukhu continues to undermine the dignity of the Constitution and the established system.
Jairam Thakur stated that the government is fostering falsehoods and anarchy in the name of systemic change. The healthcare system is vital to people's lives, yet by severely mismanaging it, the government is playing with the lives of the state's residents. Medical colleges and hospitals across the state are suffering due to the government's neglect and hollow rhetoric.
Instead of ensuring basic amenities reach everyone, the Chief Minister is focusing on purchasing machinery using support provided by the Central Government. While machines—including MRI units—have been procured and delivered to the state, there is no staff available to operate them. Open-heart surgeries have been suspended for ten months at the state's super-specialty hospital. In some hospitals, the machines are available but technicians are missing, while in others, technicians are present but the machines are lacking. Even where both are available, there is a shortage of the chemicals and other accessories required for diagnostic tests.
The Chief Minister must realize that people's lives cannot be saved by relying on falsehoods; he should stop playing with people's lives by going around and spreading lies.
He participated in the 'Short-term Vistarak (Full-time Worker) Training Workshop' held in Tippar alongside senior office-bearers and party colleagues.
