Hyd:DGP Anand Flags Off National Motorcycle Rally Against Drug Abuse

Hyderabad, Oct 17 (UNI) Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Saturday flagged off a national motorcycle rally from Hyderabad to Kevadia in Gujarat to raise awareness about drug abuse, strengthen the fight against narcotics and promote the goal of a drug-free India.
The rally, flagged off at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills, is part of a nationwide campaign organised in connection with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is coordinating the campaign as the nodal agency.
Motorcycle riders from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are participating in the rally, which aims to promote national unity, social responsibility and public awareness of the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Addressing the participants, Anand called for stringent action against the supply and consumption of narcotic substances.
Expressing concern over the impact of drug abuse on young people, he said the Central and State governments were working towards achieving a drug-free India.
In Telangana, the police department, in coordination with the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau’s EAGLE Force, was taking measures to curb drug trafficking and consumption, he said.
The State government had established the EAGLE Force to strengthen anti-narcotics operations, and strict action was being taken against those involved in drug supply, he said.
Highlighting the importance of national unity, Anand said India’s diverse languages, cultures and traditions were bound by a common national identity. The rally seeks to reinforce this spirit of unity while encouraging citizens to join the campaign against drug abuse.
He also urged the participants to follow traffic regulations and ensure road safety throughout their journey.
The riders are scheduled to travel through various regions and reach Kevadia by October 30.
They will participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations on October 31, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
EAGLE Force Director Sandeep Shandilya, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officer Vikram, Narcotics Control Bureau Assistant Director Vishal, police personnel, NCC students and media representatives attended the flag-off event.
