Hyderabad: CID arrests official for causing Rs 27 cr loss to bank

Hyderabad, Apr 30 (UNI) The Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Telangana on Wednesday arrested a senior ban official for causing a loss of Rs 27 crore to the bank.
The 53-year-old accused Kondu Sanjay, working as an Assistant General manager in the public sector bank, and posted as Relationship Manager, Medium Enterprises, at the Balanagar branch from June 2009 to June 2011, sanctioned on the basis of alleged forged documents a cash credit loan of Rs 27 crore to M/s Adarsh Communications Pvt. Ltd.
After availing the loan amount, the company’s Managing Director M.Anjaneyulu and his wife Manikonda Reeta who is director of the company were absconding since 2013. However, they were arrested last May in Bangalore.
While working at Balanagar branch, Sanjay and his Customer Support Officer G.Ravindranata with the connivance of borrowers Anjaneyulu and Reeta, knowingly and dishonestly accepted the forged document of HMDA letter, exhibited the agricultural land as non-agricultural land and allowed non-approved layout plots by violating the bank rules, intentionally misrepresented and facilitated to sanction the loan to the accused –Anjaneyulu and Reeta.
