Hyderabad: CID nabs Maya Care Welfare Society GM from UP for alleged fraud

Hyderabad, Apr 30 (UNI) The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Telangana police has arrested 49-year-old Anand Varma, General Secretary of Mayacare Welfare Society, from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in an alleged multi-level marketing fraud case, an official statement said on Wednesday.
The accused was brought to Warangal and remanded to judicial custody. Efforts are on to arrest the remaining accused, said Shikha Goel, Director General (CID), Hyderabad, in a release here.
The facts of the case are that one Kodela Bhadraiah, a resident of Chityal village of JS Bhupalpally district, had complained that Lalith Mohan Varma collected around Rs 5 crores on the promise of high returns by starting an online web Multi-Level Marketing business in the name of Maya Care Welfare Society under binary system. He drew around 400 innocent people and unemployed youth and thencheated them, the release said
Based on the complaint, a case of cheating and fraud and other linked offences was registered and investigated into.
As part of investigation, Investigation Officer K. Sridhar and his team proceeded to Kanpur and apprehended Varma recently, the release added. UNI KNR SSP
