IFFK 2024: 29th International Film Festival of Kerala kicks off

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 13 (UNI) The 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) opened on a grand note, with a captivating dance performance by the talented young artists from Kerala Kalamandalam.
Before Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan officially inaugurated the festival, the stage came alive with a vibrant fusion of Kerala's classical art forms, leaving the audience in awe.

The performance featured a fusion of Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, Kuchipudi, Thullal, and Koodiyattam, weaving together Kerala’s rich artistic traditions.
The theme of the performance was a tribute to the legendary poets of Malayalam literature. Special homage was paid to Vallathol Narayana Menon, the visionary founder of Kerala Kalamandalam, with poignant lines recited during the act.
The choreography crafted by a team of senior teachers from Kalamandalam was complemented by lyrics written by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri and music by Arun Das.
The young performers—Shradha, Anjana S, Manasa, Sreelakshmi, Anjana Vijayan, Sruthi S, Shobhika, Keerthana, Nandhana, Abhishek, Niranjana, Arya, Dharshana, Manya, Sruthinanda, Thanvi, and Geethika—are second- and final-year students pursuing degrees in Mohiniyattam, Thullal, Kathakali, and Koodiyattam at Kalamandalam.
Their collective enthusiasm and passion were evident as they graced the stage with their synchronised movements and expressive storytelling. The artists viewed it as an opportunity to showcase Kerala’s cultural heritage to a diverse audience, including dignitaries and international delegates.
