In best-ever clay form for French Open: Medvedev

Paris, May 24 (UNI) Former world No.1 Daniil Medvedev on Saturday declared that he is playing the best clay-court tennis of his career, ahead of Roland-Garros.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the season’s second Grand Slam, the 2023 Italian Open champion said several aspects of his game have come together at just the right time.
“On clay I personally feel like I’m playing, honestly, the best level of my life on clay, even considering \\\\\\\\[the] Rome title,” Medvedev said.
“A lot of things came together. If we talk about the game—like the movement, the game, the feeling of the game—I do think I play my best season on clay,” he added.
The Russian, who has traditionally favoured hard courts, acknowledged a shift in his clay-court abilities. “On hard courts it’s easier for me to answer that, yes, I’m far from the Daniil that I was on hard courts. On clay I feel like I’m even better than before,” he said.
With the main draw at Roland-Garros set to begin on Sunday, the 28-year-old is confident of converting his red-dirt resurgence into a deep run in Paris.
“That’s good for Roland-Garros because I’ll try to show it,” Medvedev signed off.
