India’s AI talent demand outstrips supply by 3.5 times, says BinQle report

Bengaluru, Oct 10 (UNI) India may need around 1.4 million artificial intelligence (AI) professionals in 2026 against an available talent pool of about 400,000, creating a demand-supply gap of more than 3.5 times, according to the BinQle Talent Intelligence Report 2026.
The widening gap could pose a major challenge for enterprises and Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as AI adoption accelerates across industries, the report said.
The report, released by global talent intelligence and workforce solutions company BinQle, found that demand was outstripping the supply of skilled professionals across artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, data engineering, DevOps and full-stack development.
The shortage of job-ready professionals has pushed salaries in specialised technology roles up by as much as 30–35 per cent, while fewer than half of candidates meet industry expectations for workplace readiness, it said.
Organisations are increasingly competing for professionals who can contribute from the outset, rather than merely possessing academic qualifications or technical knowledge, the report added.
“India’s AI opportunity will depend on how quickly organisations can identify, develop and deploy the right skills. Companies must move beyond reactive hiring and build forward-looking talent strategies to protect business continuity, innovation and competitiveness,” said Sushant Acharya, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of BinQle.
The report noted that AI was reshaping existing jobs rather than simply replacing them, making AI fluency, data literacy, adaptability and cross-functional communication increasingly important across high-demand functions.
With 39 per cent of current skill sets expected to become outdated by 2030, it called for continuous reskilling and greater emphasis on professionals who can combine technical expertise with human judgement and business understanding.
To address the emerging skills gap, the report outlined five priorities for 2026: identifying skill shortages 12–18 months before they affect business delivery; linking reskilling programmes to measurable business outcomes; building parallel pipelines for specialist and local talent; strengthening employer branding through a clear AI adoption strategy; and expanding flexible workforce models while permanent hiring pipelines are developed.
Headquartered in India, BinQle supports enterprises and GCCs across India, the United States, Singapore and Australia through AI-assisted sourcing, automated screening, expert-led interviews and predictive talent analytics.
The company works across technology and specialised roles in sectors including information technology, telecommunications, product engineering, cloud computing and AI and machine learning.
The BinQle Talent Intelligence Report 2026 is available on the company's website.
