Iran retains manufacturing capabilities to replenish missile & drone stockpile despite damage to facilities

Tehran, Oct 10 (UNI) Iran has preserved its missile and drone manufacturing facilities and can replenish its weapons stockpiles despite months of US and Israeli attacks, according to Western officials cited by Bloomberg today.
According to an anonymous official, Russia was supplying missiles to Tehran.
The assessment comes amid renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran, amid reports that the US military has been instructed to prepare for a possible resumption of hostilities. The plans reportedly include several days of intensive strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure and missile and drone arsenals.
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Washington would not resume attacks on Iran before the November 3 midterm elections.
According to Bloomberg, Iran has used the recent lull in fighting to rebuild its damaged military industry, with officials telling the agency that the Islamic Republic remains well-stocked with ballistic missiles and some anti-ship weapons and retained the capacity to manufacture more quickly.
One official said Moscow was also providing Tehran with missiles. Russia's Defence Ministry did not respond to a request for comment from Bloomberg.
The assessment contrasts with claims by Trump and senior administration officials that US military operations had severely damaged Iran's defence capabilities, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claiming back on September 30 that the US had destroyed Iran's "military industrial capacity" and "their entire defense base".
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly also rejected the assessment by the anonymous officials, according to Bloomberg, and pointed to the destruction of Iran's nuclear facilities during Operation Midnight Hammer back in June 2025, during the 12-day Israel-Iran war, and further noted the damage inflicted on Tehran's conventional military capabilities during Operation Epic Fury, jointly launched by the US and Israel on February 28 this year.
According to a report by the Hebrew-language daily Maariv, Washington recently urged Israel to launch further strikes against Iran without direct US military involvement, claiming that Trump wanted Israel to lead any renewed campaign to avoid the domestic political fallout of restarting the war shortly before the US midterm elections.
Israeli military chief Lt Gen Eyal Zamir reportedly opposed the proposal, warning that an attack could force the postponement of Israel's October 27 Knesset election. Maariv said Washington had since backed away from the idea.
The report followed a Channel 12 report that senior US military officers had told Zamir earlier in the week that the White House and Pentagon had instructed them to prepare for a major attack on Iran within three weeks, placing the potential operation shortly before the US elections.
Channel 12 also reported that Zamir had warned American counterparts that an attack could disrupt Israel's election schedule. The report cited a senior US official and another official.
Israel reportedly assesses that Iran would respond to any renewed US attack with a large-scale missile barrage against Israeli territory.
