Trump lashes out after losing Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, claims he settled eight wars

Washington, Oct 10 (UNI) US President Donald Trump has heavily criticised the Nobel Committee after failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize again, claiming he deserved the award for his role in resolving multiple international conflicts.
In a Truth Social post of nearly 600 words published shortly before midnight on Friday, Trump questioned the credentials of this year's laureate, Navi Pillay, and accused her of opposing Israel.
"I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else!" Trump wrote. "I don't know what the woman has done."
Indian-origin Pillay, a former judge of the International Criminal Court and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was awarded the prize for her efforts to promote peace and international law.
She has also chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
In her response to the award, Pillay said world leaders had a "legal obligation to protect human rights and refrain from war".
Trump claimed he had settled eight wars and was close to resolving two more, referring to the conflicts involving Iran and Russia's war against Ukraine.
"I settled 8 Wars, with letters being sent from every President and Prime Minister from the countries that I helped to the Norwegian Nobel Committee," he wrote.
He singled out the conflict between India and Pakistan, arguing that his efforts to resolve it alone should have been enough to secure the honour.
"In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1," Trump said.
Trump also went on to levy criticism at the UN, claiming it had played no role in resolving the conflicts he cited.
"In all of the Wars that I have settled, I never spoke to the United Nations—they were of no help," he wrote, adding that the US, represented by him, should have received the award.
Trump also attacked Norway over the decision, despite the country not awarding the Nobel Peace Prize. The honour is selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
"This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten," he wrote, describing the prize as "forever discredited" by what he called "Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization".
