It's a really intense situation: Brett Dier on Justin Baldoni-Blake Lively legal feud

Los Angeles, May 23 (UNI) As legal tensions escalate between actor Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively, support has emerged from a former co-star and close friend.
Brett Dier, who starred opposite Baldoni in The CW's 'Jane the Virgin' addressed the issue delicately in a recent interview for the Fan Mail newsletter, acknowledging the gravity of the situation without delving into specifics, reports PEOPLE.
Dier admitted that he gets asked about Baldoni's legal case "a lot," and called it a "really intense situation."
"I probably shouldn’t say much, but I’ll say this: I always loved Justin," Dier, 35, said. "He’s always been an amazing friend to me."
He added that he's "just hoping everything resolves in time."
"That guy is — that's my brother forever. Forever and ever," Rodriguez told PEOPLE in September ahead of the 10th anniversary of Jane the Virgin's premiere.
She said he was "hands down...the person I stay in touch with the most, for sure," from the cast, though she mentioned Dier and Yael Groblas as other costars she's in touch with. "But Justin is just my brother."
Baldoni, 41, who rose to fame as Rafael in 'Jane the Virgin', is currently embroiled in a high-profile legal dispute with Blake Lively, 37.
The legal battle began when Lively filed a lawsuit in December 2024, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of their feature adaptation of Collen Hoover's bestselling novel 'It End's With Us'. In response, Baldoni initiated a $400 million countersuit in January 2025, accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and their publicist Lesilie Sloane of defamation and attempted extortion.
A source told PEOPLE that Baldoni has been "leaning on a tight circle of loyal friends" amid the ongoing legal saga, which is "causing stress" for both him and his wife Emily.
"He's certainly feeling the financial and emotional weight of his legal fight," the source added.
Both cases in Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al. are scheduled for March 2026.
