J&K: Jammu SDRF sensitises police trainees on disaster management aspects at Reasi’s Talwara training centre

Jammu, Oct 7 (UNI) The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team held a two-day awareness-cum-demonstration programme for police personnel undergoing Basic Recruit Training Course in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the official communiqué, the training programme, held at STC Talwara, was conducted by the Jammu based Battalion Headquarters, SDRF Team’s DySP Lalit Kumar, Adjutant, SDRF Jammu under the directions of Mohd. Aslam, SSP, Commandant, SDRF Jammu.
During the programme, the instructors SI Rashpal, Selection Grade Constables, Rajesh Singh, Anil Sharma and Amit Sharma sensitised trainees on various important aspects of Disaster Management, including CPR, choking management, basic first aid, weapons of mass destruction, air-raid safety measures, and emergency methods of lifting and moving victims.
The trainees were also introduced to SDRF’s specialized search and rescue equipment and were provided practical knowledge regarding its handling, functioning, and role during rescue operations.
Dy SP Lalit Kumar expressed gratitude to Principal, STC Talwara, and DySP Adam STC Talwara, Raj Kumar for arranging the valuable awareness-cum-demonstration camp and for extending their coordination and support in conducting the programme successfully.
He also delivered the lecture to the trainees on the crucial role of police personnel as first responders during both natural and man-made disasters. He emphasized that the role of a first responder is vital in minimizing the loss of life and providing immediate assistance to victims during any emergency situation.
The officials also expressed gratitude to the Commandant, SDRF Jammu for organizing the awareness programme, which provided the trainees with valuable practical knowledge and life-saving skills to effectively respond to emergency and disaster situations.
