Jan Suraaj announces five candidates for Bihar Legislative Council polls

Patna, Sept 20 (UNI)Jan Suraaj on Sunday announced five candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections from graduate and teachers' constituencies, stepping up its preparations for the polls.
The party has fielded S.P. Rai from the Darbhanga Teachers' constituency, Ravindra Yadav from Darbhanga Graduates, Afaq Ahmed from Saran Teachers, Divya Jyoti from Patna Teachers and Rajnish Ranjan from Kosi Graduates.
The elections will be held in eight constituencies, comprising four teachers' and four graduates' constituencies. Jan Suraaj is expected to announce candidates for the remaining three constituencies later.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has already announced candidates for six seats. It has fielded Dr Sanjeev Kumar Singh from Patna Teachers, Dilip Kumar from Patna Graduates, Nitesh Kumar from Kosi Graduates, Anil Kumar Jha from Darbhanga Graduates, Prof Jairam Yadav from Saran Teachers and Dr Rashmi Vinayak Gautam from Tirhut Graduates.
The elections are required as the terms of the sitting members of the eight constituencies are scheduled to expire on November 16.
The Election Commission of India has yet to announce the poll schedule.
