Jan Suraaj to contest upcoming Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections

Patna, Sep 19 (UNI) Jan Suraaj founder and Bankipur MLA Prashant Kishor today said the names of candidates backed by the party for the upcoming Legislative Council (MLC) elections would be announced on Sunday, September 20.
Kishor said here that the party had already finalised the names of its candidates and would formally announce them tomorrow.
Asked about reports that former Mokama MLA Anant Singh could extend support to a Jan Suraaj-backed candidate, Kishor said the matter was not a concern for the party.
"What Anant Singh does is not an issue for Jan Suraaj. The issue for us is who the party fields as its candidate," he said.
Reacting to BJP national president Nitin Nabin's announcement that he would donate his three months' salary to flood victims, Kishor welcomed the move.
He said he had earlier maintained that relief operations during a public calamity should not be used to build an individual's public image with taxpayers' money.
Kishor also urged Nabin, in his capacity as BJP national president, to provide assistance to flood victims from the party's relief fund.
He claimed that the BJP's relief fund has more than Rs 30,000 crore and said a portion of it should also be used to help people affected by the floods.
