Jharkhand: Bokaro displaced workers end 12-day hunger strike

Bokaro, Oct 22 (UNI) Displaced families and members of the Displaced Apprentices Association ended their 12-day hunger strike demanding employment at Bokaro Steel Plant after a meeting between the plant management, protest representatives and MLA Shweta Singh resulted in an agreement to pursue their demands.
The meeting was held at Bokaro Niwas late on Wednesday night on the initiative of the Bokaro Deputy Commissioner and continued until 11:30 pm, the report said.
The discussions focused on initiating recruitment for Grade IV posts and providing employment to displaced candidates who have completed apprenticeship training. However, final decisions on the demands will require approval from the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) headquarters.
The Bokaro Deputy Commissioner will forward the meeting minutes to the state's chief secretary and home secretary, while BSL officials will submit the details to the SAIL chairman for further consideration.
The end of the hunger strike has temporarily resolved the immediate standoff, but a final decision on the employment demands is still awaited.
