Jharkhand: Marandi questions changing affidavits in recruitment case

Ranchi, Sep 19 (UNI) Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Saturday questioned the state government's changing affidavits before the High Court in the recruitment examination irregularities case and demanded a CBI probe.
In a post on X, Marandi said the government's latest affidavit described the entire JSSC-CGL examination process as tainted and questioned why the facts were not presented before the court earlier.
He sought an inquiry into the roles and accountability of officials including Sudhir Gupta, Anurag Gupta, Prashant Kumar and Manoj Kaushik, and questioned whether the earlier submissions before the court had omitted relevant facts.
Marandi also questioned the functioning of the CID investigation and asked why the alleged irregularities did not emerge in its earlier probe if the entire examination process was compromised.
He alleged that responsibility should not be confined to officials at lower levels and questioned the accountability of senior officials involved in the recruitment process.
Marandi also questioned Chief Minister Hemant Soren's accountability, asking whether such alleged irregularities could have taken place without the knowledge or consent of the Chief Minister.
He said the court should examine this aspect as well.
He demanded an independent CBI investigation, saying the future of lakhs of students could not be left to an investigation whose impartiality, according to him, had been questioned.
Marandi also demanded removal of Prashant Kumar and Sudhir Gupta from the JSSC and Manoj Kaushik as CID ADG, besides an independent probe into the role of Anurag Gupta and other officials associated with the recruitment process.
He said those found responsible on the basis of evidence should face legal action irrespective of their position or influence.
