John Travolta shocks audiences in surprise appearance as his ‘Grease’ avatar

Los Angeles, June 29 (UNI) Actor John Travolta, in a nostalgic fever dream, made a surprise appearance on Hollywood Bowl during the Friday screening of his classic 1978 film ‘Grease’, dressing up as his iconic 50’s leather-clad black boy dancer protagonist Danny Zuko.

“Tonight, at the Hollywood Bowl, for the first time I surprised everyone at the ‘GREASE’ Sing-A-Long and dressed up as Danny Zuko,” Travolta wrote in an Instagram post Saturday, sharing a video of his appearance, reports Variety. “No one knew. Not even the cast. Thank you for a great evening.”

In the video, the 71-year-old walked up the stage in full swag dressed up as the classic character, with the packed Hollywood Bowl erupting in cheers. Travolta then greeted the other original cast members on stage, who were stunned themselves to see him, before addressing the crowd.

“L.A! I thought you were going back to Australia?” Travolta joked, referencing the iconic line from the classic movie musical. “That’s cool, that’s cool, baby. You know, rocking and rolling and whatnot.”

‘The Pulp Fiction’ actor was joined on-stage by director Randal Kleiser, and co-stars Barry Pearl, Didi Conn, Barry Pearl, Kelly Ward and Michael Tucci.

After a three-count, Travolta and the rest of his former castmates then sang in unison with the crowd, “a-womp-bop-a-looma a-womp-bam-boom.”

The ‘Grease’ star then said to the audience, “Enjoy the show. We love you!”

‘Grease’ is one of the actor’s most iconic films and heavily cemented his popularity in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, particularly bringing to light his mad dancing skills and becoming a musical classic in Hollywood. UNI ANV SSP
