Kannur airport to be developed as aviation hub: Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Monday announced that major development initiatives would be implemented at Kannur International Airport within a year as part of efforts to transform it into an aviation hub.
Inaugurating the newly established International Air Cargo Complex and a four-MW solar power project at the airport, he said the State Government had taken important decisions to develop airports in Kerala, including Kannur, as aviation hubs contributing to the State's GDP.
The Chief Minister said efforts would be made to resolve the issue of Kannur airport not having 'Point of Call' status, which was affecting the operation of international services.
