Karandlaje questions Rahul's silence over RCB stampede

Bengaluru, June 7 (UNI) Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday questioned the whereabouts of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is known for involving himself in all issues, as she held Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar responsible for the tragic deaths and injuries caused in the stampede during the RCB victory celebrations in Bengaluru.
Talking to media at the BJP state office in Malleswaram, Karandlaje demanded that Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar should not shield officials but resign immediately. She called for an impartial investigation by the current High Court bench to identify the guilty.
"The Bengaluru Police Commissioner has become an extension of the government. If the government is confident of no wrongdoing, why not dismiss him?" she questioned, criticising the handling of the case. She condemned the recent arrests of RCB players and management, questioning why similar action was not taken in past incidents involving celebrities, and asked, “Where is Rahul Gandhi? Where is Surjewala?"
Karandlaje expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives. She revealed that the family of a deceased M.Tech student in her constituency is too devastated to even bring the body home. She described the state as being in mourning with parents struggling to cope with their losses.
Karandlaje accused Siddaramaiah of attempting to avoid responsibility by tweeting congratulatory messages to the RCB team amid the tragedy. She also questioned the role of senior government officials in sanctioning the event.
