Karnataka MLC results boost BJP's 2028 prospects: Harish Dwivedi

Chitradurga, Nov 4 (UNI) Seeking to turn the recent Legislative Council election results into a launchpad for its 2028 Assembly campaign, BJP National General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Harish Dwivedi on Wednesday expressed confidence that the party would return to power in the state, accusing the Congress of disrespecting constitutional institutions and obstructing the country's progress.
Addressing a BJP padayatra titled 'Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy' here, Dwivedi said the MLC election results had sent a political message, with graduates and teachers, whom he described as intellectually aware sections of society, demonstrating their confidence in the BJP.
He claimed that the results reflected growing disenchantment with the Congress government and strengthened the BJP's prospects of returning to power in Karnataka.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress, Dwivedi accused the party of disrespecting constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the Supreme Court, whenever it faced electoral setbacks.
"The Congress never respects the constitutional institutions of the country. Whenever it loses an election, it questions the Election Commission, EVMs and even the Supreme Court," he alleged.
Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, Dwivedi said the Congress leader frequently carried a copy of the Constitution during his public appearances but questioned his understanding of the document.
"Rahul Gandhi goes around carrying a book of the Constitution. When the book fell down, it was found to contain blank pages inside. People know what Rahul Gandhi is," he said.
He accused the Congress of consistently opposing initiatives aimed at national development, alleging that it had even opposed the construction of the Ram temple.
"Whenever work is undertaken for the development of the country and in the national interest, the Congress raises objections. It had even opposed the construction of the Ram temple," he alleged.
Dwivedi further accused the Congress of insulting national icons and obstructing the country's progress, while describing the Congress government in Karnataka as anti-people.
Expressing confidence in the BJP's electoral prospects, he said Karnataka would witness faster development once the party returned to power, with the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and the state government working together for public welfare.
"When the BJP government comes to power again, Karnataka will move forward at a much faster pace. Development in the state will accelerate," he said.
He said the BJP would prioritise the welfare of villages, the poor, farmers and workers, and appealed to party workers to take the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the national leadership Vijayendra to every village.
"If you take this message to every village and reach out to the people, there is no doubt that the BJP will once again form the government in Karnataka in 2028," he said.
Dwivedi urged party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and sustain the campaign ahead of the next Assembly elections.
