Karnataka targets Rs 1.5 lakh crore investment, 20 lakh jobs by 2030: Minister

Bengaluru, Nov 4 (UNI) Karnataka has set an ambitious target of attracting investments worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore and generating 20 lakh jobs by 2030, Industries Minister MB Patil said.
Addressing the three-day Bengaluru Skills Summit organised by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, he said the state was also working towards becoming a USD one trillion economy by 2032.
Patil said nearly 75 per cent of the investment proposals received by Karnataka had materialised, underlining the need to strengthen the state's skilled workforce to support its investment and industrial growth ambitions.
The government had introduced the 'Nipuna Karnataka' programme to enhance skill development and create a workforce equipped to meet emerging industry requirements, he said.
Minister Dr Sharanaprakash Patil said Bengaluru should expand its identity beyond being a technology capital and emerge as a global hub for skills and youth power.
Home Minister Priyank Kharge said Karnataka had established itself as a major centre of knowledge and skills. He described the state as the world's fourth-largest technology cluster and eighth globally in terms of the number of startups.
The summit also witnessed the release of three policy and knowledge documents -- Karnataka Kaushal Sampada, Karnataka Talent Landscape and Karnataka Workforce Blueprint-2030 -- aimed at strengthening the state's skill development and employment ecosystem.
Around 6,500 delegates from India and abroad are participating in the three-day event.
Ministers Basavaraj Rayareddy and Rizwan Arshad, Legislative Council member Manjunath Bhandari, Skill Development Corporation chairperson Shivakanthamma Nayak and senior officials were among those present.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is scheduled to launch the 'Yuva Udyoga Sethu' today, marking another initiative in the state's efforts to connect young people with employment opportunities.
