Kavitha plans Guinness World Record for Bathukamma celebrations

Hyderabad, Sep 27 (UNI) Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president and Telangana Jagruthi founder-president K Kavitha announced plans to organise grand Bathukamma celebrations next year with 2.5 lakh participants with the aim of securing a Guinness World Record.
Kavitha unveiled the Bathukamma celebrations poster and a CD featuring traditional Bathukamma songs, produced by Telangana Jagruthi, at the Telangana Rakshana Sena office in Banjara Hills on Sunday.
She said earlier attempts to organise Bathukamma celebrations on a scale that could secure a Guinness World Record had not succeeded. Jagruthi would organise Bathukamma celebrations across all 33 districts of Telangana and in several countries this year, she said.
Kavitha said village-level Bathukamma and Kolatam committees would be formed as part of preparations for next year's event involving 2.5 lakh people. She expressed confidence that the organisation would achieve the Guinness record and recalled Jagruthi's efforts to showcase the grandeur of Bathukamma globally, including at the Burj Khalifa.
She urged women across Telangana to participate in the Bathukamma celebrations being organised by Jagruthi this year. She said the CD containing traditional ‘chappatla patalu’ was produced to preserve the songs and pass them on to future generations.
Telangana Jagruthi state president Maripelli Madhavi said the organisation would achieve the Guinness World Record next year with the participation of 2.5 lakh people. She urged women to participate in the celebrations being organised across all districts this year and said traditional Bathukamma and clapping songs had also been uploaded on YouTube.
Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi would focus on cultural development, women’s empowerment and addressing social inequalities. Committees have been constituted in several districts and countries, with committees for the remaining districts to be announced shortly.
