Telangana govt moves to clear decades-old pending ULC applications

Hyderabad, Sep 27 (UNI) The Telangana government has initiated measures to resolve Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) applications pending for decades, State Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said on Sunday.
In an official statement, the Minister said the previous government had issued a Government Order in 2016 to address pending ULC applications, but its non-implementation resulted in thousands of cases remaining unresolved for years, causing difficulties to people in matters relating to land rights and transactions.
He said the government, in line with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s resolve to provide a permanent solution to land-related issues, had decided to take up Section 22A-related matters on a fast-track basis after consultations with Cabinet colleagues.
Ponguleti said clear instructions had been issued to examine pending applications relating to colonies that were partially regularised or remained unregularised under the Telangana Urban Land Ceiling Act. Eligible cases would be regularised after completing the required procedures as per rules.
He said Memo No. 48062/ULC/A1/2026-1 was issued on Sunday to examine and resolve pending ULC applications filed under G.Os. 455, 456, 747 and 92. Officials have been directed to initiate regularisation measures in eligible cases after completing all procedural formalities.
The Minister said the government had already taken several steps to address Section 22A issues, including constituting a high-level committee and issuing memos in accordance with G.O. 118 and G.O. 76.
Orders had also been issued permitting registration of houses, plots and flats with approvals from GHMC, HMDA, DTCP or municipal authorities, even if they had earlier been listed under Section 22A.
Referring to the assurance given by the Chief Minister in the Legislative Assembly on September 16 to resolve 10–12 key Section 22A issues on a fast-track basis, Ponguleti said the government would continue taking measures to resolve the remaining issues.
He said the objective of the “people’s government” was to free citizens from land-related problems that had remained unresolved for decades and provide solutions in accordance with the law and regulations. UNI VV SAS
