Kerala CM condemns vlogger’s Fort Kochi video: Police register case over alleged communal remarks

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has condemned an Instagram video by an out-of-state vlogger over alleged communal remarks about Fort Kochi, asserting that communal hatred would not be tolerated in the state.
In a post on X, Satheesan said the video attempted to spread misinformation about Fort Kochi, portray Kerala in a negative light and create divisions among communities.
“Keralam stands united. Communal hatred has no place here,” he said, adding that a case had been registered and the law would take its course.
The case was registered by Fort Kochi police against vlogger Amrit Singh Darren under Sections 353(2) and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint by a local resident.
The video, circulated through the Instagram account ‘Litichokup’, allegedly contained claims about the serving of beef at Kashi Art Cafe in Fort Kochi and the display of an artwork featuring Mahatma Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It also made claims about the religious composition of the local business community.
The video triggered criticism on social media, with concerns that the remarks could inflame religious tensions. The Muslim Youth League’s Ernakulam district committee also lodged a complaint with the Kochi City Police seeking action over the alleged communal remarks.
Reiterating the United Democratic Front government's commitment to communal harmony, Satheesan said justice would be ensured without fear or favour.
“A new era for God's Own Country. No room for hate. We will not allow anyone to even lay a finger on our communal harmony,” he said.
