Kerala: Two youths drowned in Kambalathara dam

Palakkad, June 22 (UNI) Two youths drowned in Kambalathara dam near Meenakshipuram while swimming along with their friends, on Sunday.
The body of one youth was fished out and search operation was going on to recover the missing one.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Vishnu Prasad (18, of Anikode) and Karthik (19, of Puthunagaram in the district).
The incident occurred at around 4 pm, when a group of eight went to Kambalathara dam, also called Kambalathara Venkalakkayam dam, situated about 31 km from Palakkad.
Two of them drowned while swimming, while other members alerted the local residents and they informed the fire and rescue personnel and police.
Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and the body of Vishnu Prasad was fished out at around 6.30 pm and shifted to taluk hospital at Chittur.
Kerala minister K Krishnakutty reached the spot and coordinated the search operation, which was going on, police said.
