Precautions to prevent liver damage: AP specialist doctor

Kakinada, June 22 (UNI) Dr A Aditya Satya Prasanna, noted gastroenterologist, said on Sunday that the liver is a vital organ in the digestive system as such every precaution be taken to protect it.
Apart from digesting the food, it removes the wastes from our body and balances the body’s functioning, he said.
Participating as the chief guest at the Mega medical camp organized by the Walkers Association with the cooperation of Ahobilam multi-specialties hospital at the Boat Club premises here, he said liver was the only organ which grows continuously from birth to death.
Consuming alcohol, eating of substances containing more fat, contaminated food and drinking of polluted water were the factors that cause liver damage.
To prevent liver damage, one should do daily exercise, control the body weight and eat healthy food ‘ he said.
Dr Aditya added that if liver is damaged, the liver from the brain dead could be transplanted.
He explained the precautions to be taken to protect the liver and also caloric values of food substances in detail.
Later along with Dr Aditya, his team of doctors and laboratory technicians conducted medical tests to the members of Walkers Association and prescribed medicines.
Dr Aditya and his wife were honoured with a shawl by Adabala Rathna Prasad on behalf of the Association.
Association secretary Dr Dasari Sridhar, Chiranjivi Rao, Advocate Yanamala Ramam, Buddharaju Satyanarayana Raju, Prasad Naidu, Chinthapalli Subbarao, K Sriramaraju, Srivani were among those attended.
