Kharge should apologise to PM Modi over remarks on his parents: Sudhir Sharma

Shimla, Oct 26 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma on Monday accused the Congress of resorting to personal attacks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi out of political frustration and demanded an immediate apology from party president Mallikarjun Kharge over his alleged remarks concerning the Prime Minister's parents.
Sharma said the Congress was increasingly losing public support and had been left without substantive issues to raise, prompting its leaders to make personal comments in an attempt to attract political attention.
He termed the alleged remarks against the Prime Minister's parents inappropriate and contrary to political decorum, saying a leader holding the position of Congress president should be mindful of the language used in public discourse.
Sharma said he had watched the complete video of Kharge's speech and claimed that several seats in the auditorium in front of the stage appeared vacant.
He said the scene reflected the Congress's current political condition and questioned the party's declining public appeal.
The BJP leader alleged that Kharge's language, used in response to a remark made by another person, reflected frustration and disappointment within the Congress.
He accused the party of targeting Modi and senior BJP leaders through personal attacks instead of addressing substantive public issues.
Sharma said Kharge should take responsibility for his remarks and apologise to the Prime Minister without delay.
He further alleged that the Congress's statements and protests were contributing to an atmosphere of instability and disorder in the country, adversely affecting India's image internationally.
Claiming that the Congress had lost the confidence of the people, Sharma said voters would respond to what he described as the party's politics of personal attacks in the coming days.
