KIMS Secunderabad introduces advanced radiation technology for precise cancer treatment

Hyderabad, Nov 4 (UNI) KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, has introduced advanced radiation oncology technologies, including the TrueBeam Linear Accelerator integrated with Brainlab Dynamic Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT), to provide more precise and personalised cancer treatment.
Dr B Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Group of Hospitals, inaugurated the technologies on Wednesday.
He said the initiative reflected the hospital's commitment to bringing advanced medical facilities closer to patients in Telangana and neighbouring regions.
Dr T Pratap Reddy, Head of Radiation Oncology, said the integrated technology enabled real-time monitoring of patient movements, six-dimensional positioning corrections and respiratory motion management, enhancing treatment accuracy and patient safety.
The TrueBeam system supports advanced procedures such as IMRT, VMAT, IGRT and SRS/SBRT, helping focus radiation on tumours while minimising exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. The Brainlab SGRT technology provides non-contact monitoring of the patient's body surface and movements during treatment.
The system is particularly beneficial in Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) procedures used in breast cancer treatment, which can help reduce radiation exposure to the heart in appropriately selected patients.
KIMS Group CEO Dr B Abhinay and Medical Director Dr Sambit Sahu were also present at the inauguration, according to a hospital release.
