Kolkata Police, STF raid hotel suite, seize large quantity of narcotics

Kolkata, Oct 4 (UNI) The Kolkata Police and Special Task Force (STF) raided a luxury hotel in the Shakespeare Sarani area and seized a large quantity of narcotics from a party suite today, police sources said.
The raid was conducted jointly by the STF and the Kolkata Police following specific information received by investigators in connection with a major drug trafficking case.
STF personnel searched a luxury party suite on the sixth floor of the hotel after cordoning off the area.
At least 20 people were present in the suite when the raid was carried out.
A substantial quantity of narcotics was recovered during the operation.
Investigators are now trying to establish the source of the drugs, how they reached the hotel and the role of those present in the suite.
Police have launched a detailed investigation and are continuing searches at the hotel to determine whether any further contraband can be recovered.
The latest raid comes after the STF recently arrested two Thai nationals, both women, in another drug-related case and seized a large quantity of narcotics from their possession.
That operation was also based on specific intelligence inputs.
Investigators are examining whether the latest seizure has any links with the wider drug trafficking network under investigation. UNI BGA/SAG NST
