Latur educationist Sanjeev Sonawane dies by suicide; Suicide note raises questions

Latur, Sep 16 (UNI) Prominent Latur educationist and institution head Sanjeev Sonawane died by suicide at his residence, sending shockwaves through the education community in the city. Sonawane was reportedly alone at his bungalow when he shot himself in the head with a licensed firearm.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and took possession of a suicide note and other material from the scene.
According to police sources, the note contains the words “I AM GOOD FOOL” and states that no one should be held responsible for his death.
The contents of the note have added a new dimension to the investigation, with police examining the circumstances and possible context behind the message.
The handwriting on the note is also being verified as part of the probe.
Police have seized the licensed firearm and other relevant articles from the spot for further investigation.
Sonawane was a well-known name in Latur’s education sector and had spent years working in the field of education. His death has therefore come as a major shock to students, colleagues, friends and others associated with the educational institutions he headed.
His wife, son and daughter are currently residing in the United States.
As the family members are expected to reach Latur, the funeral has been kept pending until their arrival.
The circumstances that led Sonawane to take the extreme step are yet to be established.
His friends and associates have expressed shock, saying they were unaware of any such situation in his personal or professional life.
Police are now examining various aspects of the case, including the circumstances preceding his death and the significance of the message found in the suicide note.
The phrase “I AM GOOD FOOL” has particularly drawn attention during the investigation. Police are trying to determine what Sonawane intended to convey through the words and whether the note contains any indication about the circumstances that may have led to his death.
Questions have also been raised about whether Sonawane was facing any personal, financial or professional difficulties or whether there was any external pressure on him.

NGO urges Bombay HC not to permit protest by Jarange Patil
