Legislative Council results in Nagpur the beginning of a great transformation in Maharashtra: Harshwardhan Sapkal

Kolhapur/Raigad, Oct 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal has termed the Legislative Council election result in the Nagpur graduate constituency as "the beginning of a great transformation in Maharashtra" and a blow to the reputation of Chief Minister Fadnavis and the RSS.
Talking with reporters in Karjat, Sapkal, who is visiting Karjat today to inspect the large-scale tree felling near the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary for the Torrent Power project, said, "The historic victory once again achieved by Congress' Abhijit Vanjari in the Nagpur Graduate constituency, the home turf of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the home constituency of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself, is the beginning of a great transformation that has begun in Maharashtra."

Sapkal said, "Despite the sacrifices of Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and the entire BJP machinery, the people have firmly voted for the Congress in Nagpur."
Taking note of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "sarcastic" tweet, Sapkal expressed his anger in strong words. "A person holding the post of Prime Minister should behave with a certain level of dignity and responsibility. The Prime Minister's cold and shallow politics like a street urchin does not suit him. Even before the counting of votes was completed, he arrogantly tweeted to embarrass the Congress."
On the drought situation, he said that the statements made by the ruling party regarding suicides are extremely disgusting and distorted.
He demanded that Rs One lakh per hectare be announced and also fulfilling of the promise to make Rs 1,500 into Rs 2,100 for dear sisters.
He demanded that the ED should immediately register a case against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his son MP Shrikant Shinde following serious allegations and evidence of Rs 500 crore.
He alleged that the tree-felling for the Torrent Power project exposes the duplicity of the central and state governments on the issue of environment.
He said, "Prime Minister Modi makes emotional announcements like 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', but on the other hand, lakhs of trees are being cut down in the Karjat-Bhimashankar area in Maharashtra in the name of the Torrent Power Project."
