Maha: Mahayuti announces 25 candidates panel for 'Gokul' election

Kolhapur, Oct 8 (UNI) Mahayuti, comprising Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-AP), Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Jansurajya Party, today announced the candidates for the five-yearly elections of Gokul Dudh Sangh (Milk Association), the makers of Gokul Milk brand, which has been attracting attention of the entire cooperative sector in Maharashtra for past several days.
The list of names of 25 candidates was announced by Minister Hasan Mushrif. 14 directors from the previous period have been given a chance again, while the names of 3 directors have been cut off and others have been given a chance.
The Mahayuti's seat allocation for the 'Gokul' election was in a state of turmoil till late Wednesday night. There was a dilemma over the seats in the Scheduled Castes/Tribes, Other Backward Classes and one women's group. However, the confusion over seat allocation ended today on the last day of withdrawal of applications.
"There was an atmosphere of discontent as many existing and aspiring candidates did not get a chance in the list. There is great unease in the group as the P. N. Patil group got only one seat. Aspirants who did not get a chance from the Mahayuti have started running towards the Congress-led like-minded alliance, led by Congress leader Satej Patil. Due to this, discontent is likely to grow in the Mahayut," said observers.
