Maha: MHADA signs C&DA pact for Kamathipura Cluster Redevelopment; work to begin on Diwali

Mumbai, Sep 17 (UNI) The Kamathipura Cluster Redevelopment Project received a major push with MHADA signing the Construction & Development Agency (C&DA) agreement.
The agreement was signed between the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB) of MHADA and Bhagirathi Housing Pvt Ltd and Mathi Developers Pvt Ltd on Wednesday at MHADA headquarters, in western suburb of Bandra.
The pact was signed in the presence of MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal. MBRRB Chief Officer Milind Shambharkar and developer director Atul Goyal.
Jaiswal said the agreement marks the shift from planning to implementation, with safety, dignity and modern quality of life at its core. The project aims to create a modern, sustainable, citizen-centric neighbourhood while preserving Kamathipura's historic identity.
Spread over 34 acres covering Lanes 1 to 15, the project covers around 475 cessed and 259 non-cessed buildings, comprising 8,001 tenants including 6,625 residential and 1,376 commercial, and about 800 landowners.
Being implemented under Regulation 33(9) of DCPR-2034, eligible residential tenants will get 500 sq ft flats. The project will also create about 900 additional MHADA units on 44,000 sq metre housing stock.
Officials said residents will get two years advance rent plus a one-time Rs 25,000 shifting allowance. Commercial occupants and landowners will get enhanced monthly rent during the redevelopment period.
