Maha: Raut alleges BJP functionary shielded in Ankita Bhandari murder case

Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut today alleged that a BJP functionary is being shielded in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and criticised the Centre over the appointment of Dushyant Gautam as Governor of Sikkim.
Addressing a press conference here, Raut recalled that Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old woman, worked as a receptionist at a resort in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. On September 18, 2022, she left the resort after completing her work but did not return home. Her parents subsequently filed a missing-person complaint, following which her body was recovered from the Chila canal.
The Sena (UBT) leader said Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi had met Ankita's parents and discussed the case with them. He alleged that her parents were arrested by police around 4 am after they staged a protest at India Gate, while Gautam was appointed Governor of Sikkim.
“This is the state of affairs in this country today,” Raut said.
“Our struggle is against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. We have brought the issue of fraudulent voter lists to the fore,” Raut said while taking a dig at Shah advising him to get a medical check-up.
Speaking about the ongoing protests, Raut said the opposition's campaign had moved from the streets to the Supreme Court. He said he and Rahul Gandhi had filed a petition concerning the issue and expressed confidence that the court would consider their concerns.
Raut also criticised the Mumbai police over reports that actor Imran Khan had been asked to leave the country by October 28 following his participation in a protest demanding the removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. UNI BA SS
