Maha: State Agriculture Corporation to set up solar power project to supply electricity to joint farm farmers

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday directed that low-megawatt capacity solar power projects will be set up to supply electricity to the joint-farms farmers of Maharashtra State Agriculture Corporation.
He has invited proposals from Mahagenco and related government undertakings and instructed these entities to take action in this regard.
Presiding over a meeting held at Mantralaya to discuss various issues of Maharashtra State Agriculture Corporation, he said that the lands of the Agriculture Corporation have been given to farmers on a contractual basis and it has been observed that supplying electricity to those places from Mahavitaran may incur higher costs.
Therefore, solar energy projects will be set up to provide electricity to these farmers under the Chief Minister's Solar Agriculture Scheme.
Bawankule further instructed that the lands of the State Agriculture Corporation have been given at various places for joint farming. Along with this, space should also be allocated for construction of solar energy projects and solar parks on the corporation's land, he added.
