Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) Three people lost their lives and another was seriously injured after a car plunged into the Waghdi River from a bridge on the Baregaon-Balapur road in Akola district late Sunday night, officials confirmed on Monday.
According to police reports, the vehicle was carrying residents of Balapur who were returning home from Badegaon when a sudden tyre puncture caused the driver to lose control.
The car broke through the bridge railing and fell into the river below. Emergency services responded promptly, retrieving the car and its occupants early Monday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Kanhaiya Singh Thakur (54), Vishal Bhanudas Solankar (45), and Sunil Sharma (45). Ashish Kanhaiya Singh Thakur sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Akola Government Hospital.
Local authorities are investigating the incident and have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially while driving at night and on bridges prone to accidents.
