Major fire erupts at Tata Projects workers’ colony near Lucknow airport

Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) A major fire broke out at the Tata Projects workers' colony, located near the Laxman Chowk area, approximately 800 meters from the Choudhary Charan Singh International Airport, at around 6.55 am on Tuesday.
According to airport officials, upon receiving the information, the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team responded immediately and dispatched a Domestic Fire Tender (DFT) to the scene.
Following the incident, the workers were safely evacuated from the affected area as a precaution.
A Crash Fire Tender (CFT) and two State Fire Service fire tenders were also deployed as additional firefighting support to control the fire.
The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes, with no fatalities or major injuries reported.
According to preliminary information, one worker suffered a minor injury from a nail while evacuating.
Notably, the fire broke out while some workers were preparing food and using gas cylinders. Tata Projects provides food for the workers, and the use of flammable materials or unauthorized cooking facilities on the Tata premises is prohibited, and workers have been issued safety guidelines in this regard several times in the past, based on the preliminary information received from the Tata Projects team.
Moreover, Tata Projects immediately relocated the affected workers to new barracks/shelters as a precautionary measure.
The situation is fully under control, and the relevant teams are taking necessary safety and precautionary measures.
