UP govt hikes Shiksha Mitras' honorarium by 80pc to Rs 18,000, benefits around 1.28 lakh workers

Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the monthly honorarium of Shiksha Mitras by 80pc, raising it from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 and benefiting 1,27,841 workers under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
The state has released Rs 460.23 crore for the enhanced honorarium for September and October of the 2026-27 academic session, with district-wise allocations issued to ensure timely payments. District-wise funds have been determined for the payment of honorarium for both months.
An amount of Rs 230.11 crore has been determined for the honorarium for September and Rs 230.11 crore for October.
Thus, a total provision of Rs 460.23 crore has been made for both months. The concerned districts have been instructed to ensure payment proceedings as per the prescribed allocation.
Approximately 1.28 lakh Shikshamitras in the state will directly benefit from this. The district-wise allocation of honorarium for September and October has been made for 127,841 Shiksha Mitras working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan for the 2026-27 academic year. Through this, the process of paying honorarium at the increased rate will be furthered.
The UP government has increased the honorarium of Shiksha Mitras under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan by Rs 8,000 per month. This increases the honorarium from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 per month, representing an 80 percent increase. The increased honorarium will provide additional financial support to Shiksha Mitras.
Sandeep Singh, UP Minister of State (Independent Charge), Basic Education said, "The Yogi government has strengthened the economic interests of Shiksha Mitras by significantly increasing their honorarium. The release of Rs 460.23 crore for September and October, along with the increased honorarium, further strengthens the government's commitment to Shiksha Mitras."
Besides, Monica Rani, Director General, School Education said ,"The honorarium increase will provide additional financial support to Shiksha Mitras. This will enable them to perform their duties in schools with greater enthusiasm and commitment, contributing to strengthening the learning process of students."

Major fire erupts at Tata Projects workers’ colony near Lucknow airport

Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) A major fire broke out at the Tata Projects workers' colony, located near the Laxman Chowk area, approximately 800 meters from the Choudhary Charan Singh International Airport, at around 6.55 am on Tuesday.
